A photograph can start a conversation.
Someone spots a small animal, works for a clear frame, and comes back with questions. What was it? What can its markings tell us? Who else has seen it? Where might we look next?
Macro Diving grows from those connections. We want the photograph, the marine-life record and the conversation around a dive to feel part of the same experience.
The project welcomes different starting points: a first underwater camera, a long-running portfolio, a fascination with one animal group, or a scientific interest in careful field observations. Useful participation should make room for learning as well as experience.
A connected underwater community.
The platform in development brings together photographer profiles, photos and films, personal species collections, a community feed, shared albums and dive-trip planning. The aim is to make it easier to find people with shared interests and keep a record of the encounters that matter to you.
Alongside the community, we are developing a marine-life encyclopedia, destination guides and practical learning material. Species records need useful photographs, clear names and sources. Location information needs a distinction between what a reference documents and what a visitor can expect.
Our collection and achievement work focuses on meaningful records rather than repeated uploads. Photographing the same species many times can build a beautiful portfolio; a species collection should still describe distinct species and acknowledge uncertain identifications.
We also want marine biologists and other knowledgeable contributors to have a useful place in the community, with sources, field observations and review where it is needed. Scientific information should improve through evidence and clear corrections.
